To celebrate World Maritime Day of 2019, the Directorate General of Sea Transportation has decided to celebrate it along with the annual social program for Ship safety. This year JANGKAR has participated closely in the realization of this event in Labuan Bajo. In the anual event of Ship Safety, socialization towards related stakeholders is a big part of this activity. The theme for 2019 is "Empowering Women in the Maritime Community" organized by the Indonesian Government and by WIMA Association (Women in Maritime). In this event which took place in Labuan Bajo, eight Marine Inspectors, part of the WIMA, performed marine inspections on three of Jangkar's members. KLM Tanaka, KLM Kireina Phinisi and KLM Sea Safari VIII. All safety aspects of the vessels mentioned above has been verified and safety drills such as fire drill and man over board drill has been performed under the surveillance of the Marine Inspectors. Along with the activities above, we have welcomed onboard kids from three local kindergartens while we explain them how important it is to understand the safety and environmental aspects of shipping. Something that we found was very important for the future generation as many of the local population's income originates from businesses relating with shipping, such as sea safaris, recreational diving or fishing. Pround to say that it was a successful, fruitful and productive event. We thank everyone who has made it possible.
